on the river!

Best Day of the Season so far!!
We have 4 fish reported today from three of the upper beats.
Syndicate rod Billy Moylan from Portlaoise caught a stonking 14/15 pounder on fly on Woodstream.
Declan Burke took his First Ever springer - a 12 pounder on fly also from Woodstream.
Two other syndicate rods also got into their first fish of the season.
Ronan Brennan had his first a fly he had tied himself with a 6 pounder from Bridgetown
& Daniel Kolomanski had a 6 pounder from Killavullen on spinner.
Conditions are perfect with the height now good for fly on almost all beats
the water temperature at 49ºF (9.5ºC) & the clarity about 5 feet.
Combine that with air temperatures today between 15 - 20ºC & you could be in heaven!

Best March since 2006!
March has started well with eight fish up to the 29th. including the first ones on the fly.
It's already it's the Best March Total for 8 years - since 2006 when 15 were caught.

This is 12 year old James O'Keeffe
who landed this 12lb. beauty on the
afternoon of Saturday, March 28 on the
Inches on Upper Kilmurry on the lower river.

He caught it on a Cascade #10 which
he had tied himself.

The fish took him 40 minutes to land.

It's the Best Fish on Fly so far this season
& the Second Biggest so far as well.

"Just wanted to say thank you very much
for a hugely enjoyable day yesterday.
Everything about it was run so professionally
and to such a high standard that
I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
And, Glenda, my thanks to you for
decoding what seemed to me to be a
complicated and mystical process
into something that I have
understanding and confidence in.
I can't wait now to get back out
onto the river to start catching fish!"
