From there, go down to the corner of the field & over the stile. Walk
down to the trees & follow the path on your left onto the long wide gravel
bank.. At the head of the gravel
bank, the river tumbles into a deep hole called "The Pot" (care when wading as it close under our
bank). This is an excellent holding
spot & can be fished by all methods.
From
here on is moderately deep, fast ripply water with several scours & stones
providing lies which are excellent for fly when grilse are running in low water,
or for spinner in medium water. Further
down, the main flow goes towards the far bank under the trees, & there is a
good holding place in the deep glide 25/30 metres above the two small trees
sticking out at an angle from the bank.
Just
above these trees is a line of stones, & from these, out under the trees
& all the way down to the cliff is superb fly water.
It is also excellent for spinning, worming & spun shrimp, & also
for floated shrimp down the slacker current on the right hand side.
Fish are very likely to take fly or spinner even right down just above
the cliff, though worming is difficult here due to snags.
When wading, keep well to the right of the stream down as far as you can
towards the cliff, especially on the first run down, as fish can lie close to
our side.
