This report is usually updated every day during the season, so if you are interested

Reports for our last operating season 2015

The Total Catch for the season was 493.

September 30

Ian Powell - 14lb. released.
It was caught at Carrahulta
on Carrig on the upper river.

 

 

The river was in absolutely perfect order
for the last few two days of the season
falling from it's peak of 2.58m
on September 15 to 0.37m on the 30th.
with superb clarity.
 

September 28

Gary Lamont - 15lb. released.
It was also caught at Carrahulta
on Carrig on the upper river.

Best Day for 2015 - August 8th.!

Eighteen fish caught for just 19 rod days in total.

Best Catch per Rod Day ever recorded for both June & July!

Both months recorded 0.6 fish/rod day!

Best Fish on Fly - August 11!

A 13 pounder released by Dan Hawker at the Hut on Kents on the lower river.

Best June Total since 2002!

88 salmon & grilse to 14lb. caught for just 180 rod days.

Best Fish for 2015!

A French angler landed a 17 pounder at the Wood Pool on Ballyhooly on September 18.

 Highlights
 
August 7:  BEST DAY OF SEASON. Fifteen fish to 6lb. caught on the upper river for just
                10 rod days - 14 on spinner.
August 8:  New BEST DAY OF SEASON. Eighteen fish to 8lb. caught on the upper river for just
                19 rod days - 9 on fly. 7 on spinner & 1 each on worm & prawn.
August 9:  Third Best Day of the Season. Fourteen fish to 11lb. were caught. Seven fell to fly,
                 four to spinner & three to shrimp. The water is fining off to superb fly order.
                 Best at 11lb. was taken by Frank Ryan on the lower river & there were more
                 better fish than in previous days with fish of 9, 8 & four 6 pounders caught.
August 28:  Six fish to 12lb. The biggest by Dave McDowell (N. Ireland) & including a
                  First Ever Salmon for Jerome Guiry (Dungarvan).
August 29:  Ten fish to 11lb reported including a First Ever Salmon for Jesus Tena (Spain).
August 30:  Seven fish - 6 from one beat on the upper river.
August 31:  Five fish - 3 from one beat on the upper river. 2 on fly.
September 1:  12.00  Already two fish reported - one each from the upper & lower river.
September 2:  Two fish of 10 & 12lb. from the lower river.
September 3:  Four fish to 13lb. from the upper river & one on fly from the lower river.
September 4:  Three fish from the upper river - one on fly.
September 5:  Two First Ever Salmon for Perman Orazov (Dubai) - one sea-liced!
September 6:  One very fresh fish on fly from the lower river.
September 7:  Two 6lb fish from the lower river - one on fly.
September 8:  Two fish from the upper river.
September 9:  Three fish to 6lb. Two from the lower river.
September 11: One fish caught.  A First Ever on prawn for Michael Taylor (N. Ireland).
September 12:  River in flood.
September 13: Two fish caught.  A First Ever Salmon for Colwyn Thompson (NI)
                        & a First Ever on on spinner for Michael Taylor (N. Ireland).
September 16: Six fish caught - 3 each from the upper & lower river. 3 to one rod.
September 17:  JOINT FIFTH BEST DAY! 11 grilse caught.
September 18:  BEST FISH OF SEASON. JOINT FOURTH BEST DAY! 13 fish caught
                         including a 17 pounder on spinner from the upper river
                         & a First Ever for Michael McArdle on fly - also upriver.
September 19:  Three fish to 12lb. caught - all on fly. A number of good fish lost of fly.
September 20:  Seven fish - including a 14lb released on fly by Terry McDermott (NI),
                         First & Second Ever Salmon for 14 yr old Claudio Kaderli (Switzerland)
                         & a First Salmon for David Looney (Cork).
September 21:  Four fish to 8lb. caught.
September 22:  Three fish - two fresh fish on spinner & one on fly.
September 23:  BEST CATCH FROM ONE BEAT IN A DAY for 2015. Three rods landed eight fish
                         and saw large numbers of fish running on one of our top beats.
September 24:  Two fish caught.
September 25:  Five fish caught.
September 26:  Three fish caught including a First Ever for Alan Clarke.
September 27:  Five fish caught including three on fly.
September 28:  Seven fish caught including SECOND BEST of SEASON - a 15lb. upriver.
September 29:  JOINT FOURTH BEST DAY of SEASON. Thirteen fish caught - 5 downriver & 8 up.
September 27:  Four fish caught including the JOINT THIRD BEST FISHof the SEASON at 14lb.
                         released by Ian Powell on the upper river.
