Merry Christmas from Blackwater Lodge

This was us at the Christmas Fayre in Fermoy last weekend.

Looking Forward to 2011

It's hard to realise that there are now only 39 days left
until the Opening Day
of the new season on February 1st.

Time now to think about booking your fishing for 2011,
dusting down the tackle & maybe brushing up on your casting!

Hopefully it won't be long after that that I can report
the first spring salmon of 2011 being caught.

We're in the grip of one of the coldest spells for decades here at the moment. For the first time in the 25 years that I have been at the Lodge, the river is freezing over.
Temperatures at night are falling to -10°C and only coming up to -5°C during the day!
Thankfully, there are warmer temperatures (+5°C to +10°C) forecast from December 26th.

And this is below Ballyduff Bridge.

This is the view just below the Lodge.
The one I usually include in the Fishing Report page
to show everybody the height of the river.

Season Report for 2010 (click here)
The season report is now available by clicking on the above link or here.  Catch details by month are also available on this link.

Prices for 2011
In order to counteract the sweeping effects of the current recession, we will be reducing prices for 2011
to ensure that we provide affordable fishing. Our new 2011 Price List is now available on the website (click link).
B&B rates have been slashed by 20%, and fishing rates by between 15 & 50% depending on the month.

Fishing Syndication
We initiated a very limited syndicate scheme in 2010. This has been extended further for 2011 with membership for
either the full season or just the first 4 months. This will provide an enticing opportunity for those
who are able to fish the Blackwater more often.
There are still places available for the coming season, so if you're interested contact me soon to reserve your place.
More details on this can be found on this link - Syndication

Fly-Only Sections

To better serve the needs of fly anglers, all beats will have certain sections to be Fly Only at river heights below a designated level.
More information on this is available on the Fishing Page on the Lodge website.

Based on demand in recent times and with a view to refurbishment, we will now offer:

Extra Dates
We will be opening the Lodge for larger parties earlier in the season on request
